Serving God as a Family

Serving God as a Family

I’ve had the privilege to be involved with The Way Ministry since childhood. When I was sixteen years old, my mom entered the training to become a Way Corps minister, and I accompanied her. During that time, I clearly heard God’s call for me to be a Way Corps minister when I grew up. Twenty-five years later, I am still reaping the rewards of answering His call to serve! One verse that became a living reality to me years ago was Isaiah 6:8.

Isaiah 6:8:
Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here
am I; send me.

In order for us to truly enjoy the more abundant life, sometimes we have to get up and go! One key to living the more abundant life is to go when and where God needs us to serve. God is always good, always on our side, and always has our best interests in mind. When we keep our hearts tender and meek to hear from Him, then He will make sure we are where we need to be when we need to be there. I wouldn’t have the wonderful family that I do today had I hesitated in responding to God’s timing of where I needed to be serving!

I have moved to a new state ten times in my life. I moved when I was single, when I was engaged to be married, when I was married without children, and now married with children. In every case, regardless of what season of life I was in, God always met my needs, 100 percent of the time!

I Timothy 1:3:
As I
[Paul] besought thee [Timothy] to abide still at Ephesus, when I went into Macedonia, that thou mightest charge some that they teach no other doctrine.

No matter what ministry responsibility I have accepted over the years, by faithfully abiding in my “Ephesus” for whatever time was needed, I’ve been abundantly blessed in every category of life! Each of us has an important function to fulfill in the Body of Christ, and that takes different amounts of time for different situations.

Dr. Victor Paul Wierwille wrote in The Life-style of A Believer, “…Living a life of service and commitment…produces the greatest attainable freedom.” The more abundant life lies in freewill service and giving to others! Realizing that the more abundant life is a freewill determination and attitude—as opposed to a specific environment I’m in or how much stuff I have or how much money I make—has helped me to stay clear of selfish worldly entanglements.

My family is happiest when we are reaching people with God’s Word. During a recent foundational class on The Way of Abundance and Power that we hosted in our home, I shared with a young lady that even though we are much busier when a class is going on, the richness of God’s Word we are surrounded with during the class makes life at home oh, so sweet! It would seem like we wouldn’t have as much time to spend together as a family; however, I have noticed more love and tenderness in our home during these times, which makes the quality of our time together engaging and endearing.

Transitioning to one new area of service, I was concerned about having enough family time. I knew I would have more to do with a full-time job as well as my increased ministry responsibilities. But I quickly saw how God took care of my heart and my family regarding this concern. My family time has been abundant—even more than I expected it would be! When we put ourselves in the center of God’s will and are about our Father’s business, He makes sure that we are very satisfied! God has abundantly blessed my family and continues to provide for their needs as well.

As we continue to serve God with thankful hearts for all that He has done for us, we are living and will continue to live the more abundant life!
