God’s willingness and ability to provide go far beyond what we can see by our five senses. Our God is mighty, and in matters great or small, He is there for us. The more we know Him by way of His Word, the more we can believe Him and evidence His power in our lives.
Throughout the Old Testament, God demonstrated His willingness and ability to provide for His people. One notable display of God’s might was His manner of bringing the children of Israel out of Egypt.
Deuteronomy 26:7-9:
And when we cried unto the Lord God of our fathers, the Lord heard our voice, and looked on our affliction, and our labour, and our oppression:
And the Lord brought us forth out of Egypt with a mighty hand, and with an outstretched arm, and with great terribleness [awe-inspiring deeds], and with signs, and with wonders:
And he hath brought us into this place, and hath given us this land, even a land that floweth with milk and honey.
God heard the cries of His people. He saw their need and He responded, bringing them forth out of captivity “with a mighty hand.” He brought them from a place of oppression to a place of freedom—a land that flowed with milk and honey.
Our mighty God has great strength, and He is able and willing to strengthen His people when they grow weary.
Isaiah 40:28-31:
Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding.
He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength.
Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall:
But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
Sometimes we may get tired, weary, faint—but our mighty God, never! He is not weary Himself and He gives power to the faint.
God also manifested His mighty power in the life and ministry of His Son, Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ operated the power of God in his day and time. In the Book of Luke, he healed a child by the power of God, and it had quite an effect on the people who witnessed it.
Luke 9:43:
And they were all amazed at the mighty power of God….
God continues to manifest His mighty power today. He makes His power available to those who believe.
Ephesians 1:18-20:
The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,
And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power,
Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places.
These verses in Ephesians are part of a prayer recorded in God’s Word to show us what is available to believers today. Verse 18 says “that ye may know.” God wants us to know the exceeding greatness of His power—the same energized power that raised Jesus Christ from the dead and ascended him to the right hand of God. That’s some exceedingly great power! And this power is to “us-ward who believe” His Word.
With that power, we can do mighty exploits for God. We can trust that God’s willingness and ability to provide go far beyond what we can see by our five senses. Our God is mighty. He is the everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth. And He is not weary but is always there for us. As we believe what His Word says, we can evidence His mighty power in our lives.
