God blessed us with all spiritual blessings when we became born again. He wants us to know what these blessings are and how to utilize them. I Corinthians 1:30 is among the scriptures that mention some of these.
I Corinthians 1:30:
But of him [God] are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption.
We have been given wisdom, righteousness, sanctification, and redemption. And there are even more blessings than these! Let’s look at just one: wisdom. From God’s Word we can see the perfect example of godly wisdom in the life and teachings of Jesus Christ. And because of what God accomplished in Christ, we also have been given this godly wisdom. This wisdom is part of what God gave us with the “package” of holy spirit we received when we became born again.
Spiritually, wisdom is now ours because of what Christ did for us. In I Corinthians 1:30, “who of God is made unto us wisdom” can be read as “who [Christ Jesus] became unto us wisdom from God.” It is through the life and ministry of Jesus Christ that believers become acquainted with the wisdom of God, and we have access to this wisdom once we are born again. By studying the Bible and seeing the life and ministry of Jesus Christ, we witness the wisdom of God in action. As we walk in the steps of Jesus Christ, doing the works of Jesus Christ and greater (John 14:12), we can manifest this wisdom also.
Ephesians 1:8,9:
Wherein he [God] hath abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence;
Having made known unto us the mystery of his will….
Jesus Christ is our perfect example of manifesting God’s wisdom. Let’s look at one instance of the wisdom of God in operation in Jesus Christ’s daily life.
John 8:2-11:
And early in the morning he [Jesus] came again into the temple, and all the people came unto him; and he sat down, and taught them.
And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto him a woman taken in adultery; and when they had set her in the midst,
They say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act.
Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned: but what sayest thou?
This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not.
So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.
And again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground.
And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst.
When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee?
She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.
What a witness of God’s wisdom in action. Jesus Christ didn’t let anyone or any circumstance tempt him into speaking rashly or acting foolishly, contrary to the will of God. He knew what God’s Word said, and he trusted God to show him how to apply it correctly in every situation. He stayed quiet and in control of his own emotions and reactions until he knew what the wisdom of God was, what action to take. He relied on God, his heavenly Father, and His infinite wisdom to bring deliverance to this woman.
Throughout the Gospels, in the midst of accusations, temptations, emotional outbursts, and chaos, Jesus Christ always did the Father’s will, carrying out God’s wisdom. Yes, he is our perfect example. We walk in his steps. We can stay calm, letting the Word dwell in us richly as we tap into God’s wisdom. God absolutely works in us too! By acting wisely, we dispel the darkness and introduce the light of life.
We truly are blessed with all spiritual blessings. Because of the new birth, we can boldly walk as Jesus Christ did, with the wisdom of God. Christ Jesus became unto us wisdom!
