God’s deliverance is presently available. Right now, anyone can be freed from the weight of any need or lack. We can help others receive God’s deliverance as we share God’s Word and encourage them to take steps of believing.
Believing action is the key that opens the door to deliverance. At times, to see deliverance in a situation, we need to take steps of believing on God’s Word. The promises of God that we become fully persuaded of in the innermost part of our minds form our positive believing. Then, our believing mind-set is demonstrated in our actions. Let’s see an example from the Scriptures of believing action leading to deliverance.
Matthew 8:5-8,10,13:
And when Jesus was entered into Capernaum, there came unto him a centurion, beseeching him,
And saying, Lord, my servant lieth at home sick of the palsy, grievously tormented.
And Jesus saith unto him, I will come and heal him.
The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed.
When Jesus heard it, he marvelled, and said to them that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith [believing], no, not in Israel.
And Jesus said unto the centurion, Go thy way; and as thou hast believed, so be it done unto thee. And his servant was healed in the selfsame hour.
In the face of a challenge, the centurion took steps of believing. He demonstrated his believing, first by going to Jesus Christ and then by confidently requesting him to “speak the word only” to heal his servant. The centurion’s great believing actions opened the door for his servant’s deliverance.
To help others receive deliverance, we can encourage them to take the next step of believing. For someone to believe, they must hear the Word of God (Romans 10:17). With Word-filled hearts, we are prepared to speak and encourage people to believe and act on the truth we share. We share what God says is presently available in His Word—deliverance! This helps people bring their believing up to the Scriptures rather than down to the situation.
Once we have helped someone set their believing sights according to the Word, then it’s time to encourage them to take a step forward on the Word. At times, the next step can be challenging for people because they lack confidence or feel unsure of what action to take. We can be confident and sure as we bolster their believing with the promises of God. As we share God’s Word, their conviction that God will perform what He promises will spur them to act on the Word. Here are examples of believing steps to encourage others to take:
- Get nourished with the Word with a meek heart (I Timothy 4:16; James 1:21).
- Keep thoughts well arranged according to the Word (Matthew 9:22; John 16:33).
- Fear not (Joshua 1:9; Mark 5:36; Romans 8:15).
- Pray with confidence according to God’s promises and expect to receive answers to prayer (Mark 11:23,24; I Thessalonians 5:17; I John 5:14,15).
A few years ago, I met a young man with challenges that had mounted to the point that he attempted to take his own life. I let him know that he could experience God’s deliverance if he would learn God’s Word and live it. He took action by accepting my invitation to hear more of the Word at fellowship and began faithfully attending. As he learned, he moved forward with believing step-by-step.
He desired to take the Foundational Class but didn’t see how it would be possible with his finances and his schedules from school and work. I shared with him that the things that are impossible with men are possible with God (Luke 18:27). I encouraged him to boldly ask his boss for a schedule that accommodated the class. I helped him bake cookies that he sold to classmates and neighbors to raise money for the class registration fee. I became his teammate in taking believing action, and I encouraged him to keep moving forward. He completed the Foundational Class and grew from not being able to make eye contact with people and stuttering when he spoke to boldly inviting others to fellowship. He even manifested the holy spirit power within him by speaking in tongues with confidence and with perfectly clear speech. His continued steps of believing opened the door to tremendous deliverance.
The wholeness and freedom that people desire is available right now. To unlock the door to deliverance simply requires the key of believing. We can be the ones that hand this key to others as we show them God’s promises and encourage them to make bold moves of believing. As we help others to keep taking the next step on the Word, God will deliver them from any challenge. Let’s share the Word in our hearts, encouraging others to the point that they take believing steps on the promises of God and experience victory!
