Giving Our All in the Body of Christ

Giving Our All in the Body of Christ

Every born-again believer in the Body of Christ has the same measure of the faith of Jesus Christ and is therefore equipped to contribute in this Body. No matter our function, we can make a positive difference as we give and serve with our whole hearts.

Romans 12 tells us that all born-again believers have the same measure of the faith of Jesus Christ.

Romans 12:3:
For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think
of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith [the faith of Jesus Christ].

It is a joy to think of ourselves not only in terms of our senses abilities but in terms of all that is ours spiritually—having the faith of Jesus Christ and his ability. The measure of the faith of Jesus Christ is a full measure, and it abounds in our lives. God has not left us lacking in any category. Our position in the Body of Christ is one of sons and daughters—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ. This is how God sees us and how we can see ourselves.

Because we have the full measure of the faith of Jesus Christ, we are equipped to give and serve in the Body of Christ with our whole hearts, no matter our function.

Romans 12:4:
For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office [function].

Though we all have the same measure of faith and are all members of the same Body, we each have different functions to fulfill as individuals, and we can each fulfill our particular function to the full measure of the Christ within.

Romans 12:6:
Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us
….

The gifts, spiritual abilities and functions, differ with each believer, but the abundance of God’s grace does not differ. Each of us partakes fully of what God has graciously given, which includes the benefits of all seven Church Epistles, the energized gift ministries in the Body of Christ, and the ability to operate all nine manifestations of holy spirit in the magnificent package of the new birth.

Romans 12:6:
…whether prophecy,
let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith [believing].

The degree to which we function is set by believing—first and foremost the believing of each individual, yet also included is the mutual believing of the Body for that member in particular to function.

Romans 12:7,8:
Or ministry,
let us wait on our ministering [get busy ministering]: or he that teacheth, on teaching [get busy teaching];
Or he that exhorteth, on exhortation
[get busy exhorting]: he that giveth, let him do it with simplicity; he that ruleth [he who oversees], with diligence; he that sheweth mercy [he who is greatly adept in showing mercy], with cheerfulness.

Whatever our individual strengths may be, we get busy contributing. It doesn’t matter how big or how small a contribution we may think we have to offer; God can open doors for us to function when we seek to give and serve with our whole hearts.

Colossians 3:23:
And whatsoever ye do, do
it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men.

The word “heartily” means with your whole self in it. Your life makes a difference; believe it! God promises us that, as sons and daughters of God, spiritually we have everything needed for the job.

Colossians 2:10:
And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power.

With full confidence in the ability of God in Christ in us, we can give our all in the Body of Christ, and each one of us can make a difference as we give and serve in this Body.
