Ever since I was born again and spoke in tongues, it has been my desire to serve God. I can achieve this desire by walking in the steps of Jesus Christ. Having the opportunity to serve God’s people has placed my wife and me in a position to experience the beneficent and faithful care of our heavenly Father. Being willing to serve God wherever and whenever He needs me has fulfilled my heart’s desire to experience God’s sufficiency in my life.
As I rely on Him in my service, my cares and concerns are lightened. I find that the more I serve God and place my trust in His ability, the more I experience His sufficiency, which results in a life that is more than abundant.
Serving as an ambassador for Christ and making his thoughts and actions the desire of my heart fulfills the promise he made to the world.
John 12:26:
If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour.
In his earthly ministry, Jesus Christ demonstrated the life of a true servant; no one has given his life in service to God as he did, and the Word declares how abundantly God took care of him. God will certainly do the same for us.
Since my wife and I made the decision to increase our service to God, we have recognized a definite increase in our quality of life and experiential knowledge of God’s abundant supply.
Philippians 4:19:
But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
Our exposure to leadership training and teachings, our personal reading and study time, our preparations to teach God’s Word, and the vast selection of ministry resources at our fingertips have provided the help we need to minister to God’s people. Faithfully praying and speaking the truth in love have produced recognizable growth in my life both spiritually and mentally.
Having a peaceful mind stayed on God’s Word enables me to give more, and most times I find that I am able to do more than I logically thought possible. By operating my gift of holy spirit, speaking the truth in love, and ministering to people’s hearts, I also benefit by growing spiritually.
God gives me everything I need to abound in life as I do His will and good pleasure in my everyday activities, and He makes sure I have everything I need to be full of joy and thankfulness. I know that it is He Who is providing it for me.
II Corinthians 9:8:
And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work.
Last year, when we accepted a new ministry responsibility, we had a large order for God to supply: a car, a job, and a home. Today, when my wife and I have people over for fellowship, we can proudly tell them about all that God has provided for us. I made God my business partner by faithfully praying and abundantly sharing, and God has provided work faithfully each month in the most amazing ways. The home God provided for us continues to bless us as it serves our different and changing needs and helps the movement of the Word of God to our community. Our car continues to faithfully take us wherever God needs us to be.
I am confident that I would have never truly experienced the more than abundant life if my wife and I had stayed in our comfort zones. I am sure it would have been a nice life, but it would pale in comparison to the life of service which I now live.
