Manifest God’s Power: Prayer and Speaking the Word

Manifest God’s Power: Prayer and Speaking the Word

God is a God of great power. He has given His people the ability to show forth His abundant power by praying and speaking His Word.

Throughout time, God’s magnificent power has been in manifestation. One way God has made it available to manifest His power is by praying.

Mark 11:24:
Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive
them, and ye shall have them.

The Greek word translated “receive” here is lambanō, which means to receive into manifestation. Our heavenly Father has provided us with unlimited opportunities to pray and believe for any and all things that we desire according to His Word, and then to receive them. That is God’s power in manifestation!

James 5:16:
…The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

Effectual, fervent prayer is energized prayer. “Availeth” means to prevail. Our prayers prevail!

One day, my wife and I were traveling home on a snowy and icy highway. We moved from the right lane to the left lane to pass a slower car. After passing, we moved back over to the right lane and our car started sliding off the highway. The car turned sideways as we headed down a steep hill toward a fence. I boldly prayed, “God, thank you for stopping this car in the name of Jesus Christ.” The car stopped immediately on the side of the hill, about 20 feet, or 6.1 meters, from the fence. Then I thanked God for helping us get back on the highway. We continued our journey home safely and peacefully. Prayer brings God’s power into manifestation in life’s situations.

God’s Word instructs us to pray without ceasing (I Thessalonians 5:17). There are many things we can pray for even if we do not know all the details of some situations. We have the benefit of praying with the spirit, speaking in tongues, for them (Romans 8:26; I Corinthians 14:15). We can pray for ourselves, for our needs and the affairs of life, for our goals, for our families, for other believers, for the ministry and its leadership, for the outreach of God’s Word, and for our communities and countries. The first-century believers prayed to reach out with God’s Word and to see His power brought into manifestation (Acts 4:29,30). When we pray, we can expect God to work mightily and exert His power, bringing answers and peace to our lives. How can we manifest more of God’s power? By our effectual, fervent prayers.

Speaking God’s Word is another way the power of God is manifested. When the believers prayed in Acts 4:31, they were filled to overflowing with holy spirit and they spoke the Word of God with boldness.

Acts 4:31:
And when they had prayed,
the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled [to overflowing] with the Holy Ghost [the gift of holy spirit], and they spake the word of God with boldness.

We can boldly speak God’s Word, because it has power!

Luke 1:37:
For with God nothing shall be impossible.

“Nothing” is translated from three Greek words that mean “not anything spoken.” This verse could read “For with God not anything spoken shall be void of power.” If we want to manifest more of God’s power, we can speak more of His wonderful Word, which is full of power. Whenever we choose to speak the Word, God backs it up with His power.

Consider just how powerful is the good news of the gospel. It’s the power of God unto salvation (Romans 1:16). The Word of God regarding salvation makes the new birth available to anyone who believes. We have the privilege to speak the Word regarding salvation and to lead others into the new birth (Romans 10:9,10). We can help the new believer turn from darkness to light and have spiritual understanding and wholeness in life. The power of God is exerted mightily when a person becomes born again! When we speak God’s Word and share what He has done for us in Christ, we are powerful witnesses of the truth. How can we manifest even more of God’s power? By speaking His powerful Word.

Our God is a God of power. He has made great power available to us to live abundantly and serve effectively. We can manifest His power by way of our fervent prayers both with our understanding and with the spirit. We can also manifest God’s power by speaking His Word. When we share our knowledge of God and of Jesus Christ, God’s Word spoken on the lips of believing has immense power.

Let’s rise up and boldly manifest more and more of the exceeding greatness of God’s mighty power!
