What if you went into every competition you faced assured that you would be victorious? Would that make you feel confident, competent, and qualified? Sure it would!
I Corinthians 15:57:
But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
II Corinthians 2:14:
Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place.
In the spiritual competition of life, God has promised His sons and daughters that we are victorious and triumphant through Jesus Christ. How do we have that victory? After the fall of Adam, mankind needed to be redeemed from the hand of the adversary, the Devil, and his principalities and powers. So God invoked a plan to legally redeem man from his fallen state. Being a just God, He had to redeem man on legal grounds. Jesus Christ was that plan.
Romans 3:24:
Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.
What God accomplished through Jesus Christ’s birth, his sinless life, his death, his resurrection, and his ascension enables us to be victorious in any situation.
Hebrews 2:14,15:
Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he [Jesus Christ] also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;
And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.
Because Jesus Christ gave himself as a perfect sacrifice, he is our perfect redeemer. With the death of Jesus for three days and three nights, all facets of our debts as Adam’s offspring were completely paid for. The legal requirements were completely fulfilled. Then God raised Jesus Christ from the dead, and all the principalities and powers that were against us were triumphed over.
Colossians 2:10,12,14,15:
And ye are complete in him [Christ], which is the head of all principality and power:
Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.
Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;
And having spoiled principalities and powers, he [Jesus Christ] made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.
After Jesus Christ’s resurrection and ascension, God sent the gift of holy spirit on the day of Pentecost. He made it available for all who would believe to get born again and receive eternal life, incorruptible seed. God made us His sons by spiritual seed.
I Peter 1:23:
Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.
Within that spiritual seed is unlimited potential power that equips us to compete in the spiritual competition. Spiritually, we have the victory over the adversary. The battle has been fought and won on our behalf by Jesus Christ. We do not need to fight against the principalities and powers directly. How we compete now is in our mind, our thoughts.
To live victoriously, to claim our sufficiency, we put on the thoughts of God’s Word and walk out on them with believing. We compete in our minds against spiritual powers which have already been defeated by Christ. We just need to recognize that we are what the Word of God says we are; we have what the Word of God says we have; and we will be what the Word of God says we will be.
Romans 8:37:
Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors [we gain a surpassing victory] through him that loved us.
Not only can we live victoriously here on earth, but we have the Hope of eternal life with God and His Son, Jesus Christ, when Jesus Christ returns.
I Thessalonians 4:16,17:
For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
I Corinthians 15:57,58:
But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.
In the spiritual competition of life, we can be steadfast, unmovable, and abounding because we have the final victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. We can compete in this life assured that we will be victorious. Because of Christ’s victory, we are confident, competent, and qualified. We are sufficient!
