Ephesians 1:19,20:
And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power,
Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places.
When we get born again (Romans 10:9,10), we receive access to the same power that raised Jesus Christ from the dead; however, that power remains dormant unless activated. So what is the key to activating and manifesting this awesome power? The renewed mind.
Romans 12:2:
And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
The renewed mind is the key to manifesting God’s power. The process of renewing the mind is simple, yet it yields powerful results. As we renew our minds, our lives are transformed, and we bring forth the power of God in manifestation.
What does it mean to renew one’s mind? One simple definition is “to hold the Word in mind and act accordingly.” The word “renewing” in Romans 12:2 is translated from the Greek word anakainōsis, which means a renovation. Its simplest literal meaning is “new up.” When we became born again, we received God’s spirit and became a new creation in Christ (II Corinthians 5:17). However, we still have the same minds we had before salvation. How then can we “renew” our minds? We renew our minds by bringing our thinking up to the level of God’s Word.
Isaiah 55:8,9:
For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord.
For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.
God’s thoughts are higher than our thoughts, and His ways are higher than our ways. Therefore, we bring our thinking and actions up to the level of God’s Word.
Renewing our minds means that we control our thoughts. God has given us the ability to choose our thoughts.
Romans 13:14:
But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ….
Where can we put on the Lord Jesus Christ? In our minds. When we choose to put on the thoughts that magnify who we are in Christ, we are able to walk by the power of God. We get to choose which thoughts we accept and which thoughts we will reject. We are the boss of our thoughts.
II Corinthians 10:5:
Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.
We are to lead every thought captive to the obedience of Christ. Renewing our minds is a continual process, something that we get to do moment by moment and day after day. We control our thoughts, our will, our desires, and even our emotions by the thoughts that we choose to think (Ephesians 4:22-32). We choose to let the thoughts of God’s Word dwell richly in us (Colossians 3:16). This is how we manifest the power of God. We think the thoughts of God’s Word, believe them, and act upon them.
As we renew our minds, our lives are transformed and we manifest the power of God.
Romans 12:2:
And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
The words “be…transformed” are from the Greek word metamorphoō. We get the English word “metamorphosis” from a form of this Greek word. In biology, a metamorphosis can be defined as “a profound change in form from one stage to the next in the life history of an organism, as from the caterpillar to the…butterfly.” If a caterpillar can change into a butterfly, think of how we can transform our lives when we choose to think what the Word says about us. As we renew our minds to God’s Word, our minds are coordinated and in harmony with the spirit of God within us, and we bring forth the power of God in manifestation.
With the new birth, God has given us access to His awesome power. The key to activating this power is the renewed mind. We control our thinking, choosing to think the thoughts of God’s Word, and as we do, our lives are transformed. The renewed mind is the key to power!
