Relying on God to Do His Part

Relying on God to Do His Part

At times in life, we may face adversity that seems beyond our ability to handle. We may feel challenged beyond our natural limits. It’s a good thing we have a heavenly Father Who is all-powerful! We can have confidence in God and rely on Him to see us through any situation. “You do your best. Then God will do the rest.” That’s relying on God. We do our part by taking believing action on the Word we know, and then we rely on God to do His part to bring about deliverance in any category of life.

“You do your best….” We are doing our best when we do God’s Word. Our best isn’t necessarily putting forth the greatest effort based on our natural ability. That may be part of it, as we learn in Ecclesiastes 9:10 in The Amplified Bible (1987): “Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might….” But actually doing our best is more than putting forth the maximum effort of our natural ability. It’s determining what course of action is aligned with the Word and doing that. It’s taking believing action on the Word that we know. In every situation, we can endeavor to elevate our thinking to the level of the Word, and act accordingly.

Romans 12:2:
And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

As we renew our minds to the Word, we want our actions to follow suit so that we will be aligned with the good, acceptable, perfect will of God. Living and acting according to the Word may not always seem easy, but it is always the best route we can take. God’s ways are higher than our ways. His thoughts are higher than our thoughts (Isaiah 55:9). And He desires the best outcome for us in life.

“You do your best. Then God will do the rest.” As we do our best by doing the Word, we can rely on God to do His part in bringing deliverance to our lives. He is all-powerful. No matter what challenges we are facing, He can bring us success. No matter what adversity we are facing, He can prosper us. He will do this for us as we believe His Word and trust in Him.

I Timothy 4:13,15:
Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine.
Meditate upon these things [the things of the Word]; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting [progress, advancement] may appear to all.

We are to commit ourselves to giving ourselves wholly to the Word. We can rely on God to cause us to be successful and cause spiritual advancement for us as we are faithful to live according to His Word.

A great example we can look at of someone who did his best by doing God’s Word and saw great results, despite opposition, is Joshua. He was the leader of God’s people after Moses. We see in the following verse that God gave Joshua instruction to do His Word, promising that as he did, Joshua would be prosperous.

Joshua 1:8:
This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.

Joshua was faithful to obey the Word given to him. He led God’s people as he kept the law as well as the revelation given to him on how to conquer the Promised Land. The result was that he was prosperous and indeed had good success.

Joshua 11:23:
So Joshua took the whole land, according to all that the Lord said unto Moses; and Joshua gave it for an inheritance unto Israel according to their divisions by their tribes. And the land rested from war.

Joshua served the Lord faithfully and was able to blaze a path to victory against the enemies of God’s people. Against overwhelming odds, Joshua led a successful campaign because the Lord was with him. He did his best by doing the Word given to him, and his all-powerful God did the rest.

We can rely on God to bring to pass the promises of the Word. God can do no less than His Word, but His ability to move in a situation is limited until we believe. That takes thinking the truth of the Word and acting on His promises. As we take believing action, our all-powerful God can do His part to bring deliverance to our lives.
