Home fellowships are a spiritual safe haven for God’s people to get built up, be encouraged, and see deliverance as they move God’s prevailing Word together. As members of a home fellowship, we can make a powerful impact as we speak pleasant words to each other.
Speaking pleasant words to those in our fellowship is a way to show God’s heart for them. When believers come to a home fellowship meeting after a long day of work, school, activities, or caring for their family, we can be ready to greet them with kind words on our lips that remind them of how God loves them.
Proverbs 16:24:
Pleasant words are as an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones.
In between fellowship meetings, we can speak pleasant words that reflect God’s heart by calling to check in with those in our fellowship. Recently, I called to check in with another believer who was going through a challenging transition in life. She told me she had been feeling so anxious about the unknown that her stomach would not stop turning. I encouraged her with God’s promises and shared His heart for her life. Soon after we finished the call, I got a text message from that believer saying that her heart and her stomach were put at ease after we spoke. When we choose to speak words that reflect God’s heart, our words are pleasant; they can sweeten someone’s soul and have a powerful effect on someone’s health.
We have the ability to encourage someone’s heart and speak the right words at the right time to meet their needs. We never want to underestimate how important our words are or the effect our words can have on someone’s life.
Proverbs 12:25:
Heaviness in the heart of man maketh it stoop: but a good word maketh it glad.
Proverbs 15:23:
A man hath joy by the answer of his mouth: and a word spoken in due season, how good is it!
Speaking “a good word” can lighten the hearts of the hearers and bring comfort right at the time it is most needed. We can even share these good and uplifting words in written form. There have been countless times when I have received a handwritten note containing encouraging words and my heart was instantly glad! Other times, I experienced this when I received a text message with a verse in it at just the exact time I needed it.
As we cultivate our hearts with the Word and seek to give in our fellowships by speaking pleasant words, God will work in us to speak the right words at the right time.
Philippians 2:13:
For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.
By reaching out with uplifting words during our home fellowship meetings and in between fellowship meetings, we can better support each other and believe to see victories together. As we do, we will grow stronger and become more unified, just as the Apostle Paul expressed by revelation in Philippians 1.
Philippians 1:27:
Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christ: that whether I come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel.
We can stand fast and strive together as we encourage one another with uplifting words that reflect God’s heart. Our words make an impact, and we want that impact to be positive, inspiring, and encouraging to those in our home fellowships. We have the ability to speak the right words at the right time. Let’s speak words that sweeten the soul and bring health to those we stand fast with in our home fellowships.
