We Are Needed!

We Are Needed!

Have you ever been in a situation where somebody needed you? Perhaps you were needed to fill a position on a sports team or at a job or to care for someone’s children. They needed you, and you were the one to fill that need. Perhaps knowing you were a necessary part of the team motivated you to give your all. Do you know that God needs you?

When we confess with our mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in our heart that God raised him from the dead, we are saved (Romans 10:9) and become children of God (Romans 8:16). As His children, we are NEEDED by God to fulfill a very worthy responsibility.

Philippians 2:15 and 16 tell us that although we are in the midst of a “crooked and perverse” generation, we have a great responsibility to shine as lights, holding forth the Word of Life.

Because of Adam’s disobedience, sin passed on to all men, for all men are born dead in trespasses and sins, having no hope, and without God in the world (Romans 5:19; Ephesians 2:1,12). Mankind was separated from God. But God’s only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, came and repaired the broken line between God and man. God needed Jesus Christ to redeem mankind, and Jesus Christ gave his life to fill that need.

II Corinthians 5:18,19:
And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;
To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.

Now God needs us to take the place of Christ in this world. He has placed great trust in us, His children: He gave us the ministry of reconciliation—the ministry of bringing back to Him those people who have been separated from Him—and He has committed unto us the Word of reconciliation. God has limited the ministry of reconciliation in the Grace Administration to us, and only us! Our heavenly Father has great confidence that His children will carry out this responsibility.

So what do we do with this responsibility? Well, we could do nothing with it. But unless we as born-again believers tell others God’s Word—about the new birth, about how to become sons of God, and about the power of the holy spirit and its manifestations—they will never know.

Romans 10:13-15:
For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?
And how shall they preach, except they be sent?…

God has called us and sent us to be His ambassadors.

II Corinthians 5:20:
Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God.

God NEEDS us to speak His Word—to boldly proclaim His love and goodness and to fearlessly preach Christ—in the midst of this “crooked and perverse” generation. When we do, we can make a big impact in the world around us with God’s powerful Word.

Here are a few practical things we can do as we fulfill our responsibility to God to speak His Word as ambassadors for Christ:

  • We can believe to plan our day so that we stay flexible to reach out to those who are in need. And we can bring someone along with us when we go out to share God’s Word. Mutual believing, prayer, and action are powerful (Matthew 18:19).
  • We can speak from the abundance of what we have in our hearts (Luke 6:45). The greater we build the Word in our hearts, the greater our resolve and conviction will be to speak it.
  • We can look for opportunities to share the promises of God with our families, friends, coworkers, and the people in our communities. Each day we can decide to speak and make a commitment that we will not let an opportunity to speak the Word pass us by—it could be an opportunity to change someone’s life.
  • We can remember which job is ours. It is our job to simply speak the Word, giving people an opportunity to hear the Word WHEREVER we go. It is God’s job to prosper the Word we speak. When we do our part, God will always do His, for He is faithful to carry out His Word (I Corinthians 1:9; 3:6). As God gives the increase, we can make a big impact on our families, our friends, our coworkers, and our communities!

God wants His Word to grow mightily, and He wants His Word to prevail. As His sons and daughters, we have the awesome privilege of contributing to the movement of His Word around the world. This is a great responsibility in life. Let’s be bold, fearless, and determined to speak God’s Word everywhere we go, because God NEEDS us to speak His Word.
