Can and Will God Bring Healing?

The Word of God reveals the heart of God and answers every important question in the heart of man. A question we might have in our lives is, Can and will God bring healing? One title of God answers that question. It is Jehovah-ropheka, “the Lord that healeth thee.”

God revealed Himself as Jehovah-ropheka, “the Lord that healeth thee,” to Moses and the children of Israel at Marah. Shortly after successfully crossing the Red Sea, Moses led the children of Israel into the wilderness. For three days they found no water, until they came to Marah. But the water there was bitter and undrinkable. The people murmured against Moses, asking, “What shall we drink?” Moses, who believed God, appealed unto the Lord, Jehovah, for assistance. And Jehovah, as the Healer, was right there with a solution.

Exodus 15:25,26:
And he
[Moses] cried unto the Lord; and the Lord shewed him a tree, which when he had cast into the waters, the waters were made sweet: there he made for them a statute and an ordinance, and there he proved them,
And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the Lord thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I
am the Lord that healeth thee.

In Hebrew, “the Lord that healeth thee” is Jehovah-ropheka. The Lord that heals us is what God is and does. Though Exodus 15:26 is the only occurrence of Jehovah-ropheka in the Bible, we can learn more about this title of God by looking at the respective parts.

Jehovah is the Lord in relationship to His creation, the Lord in His covenant relationship to those He has created. A covenant is an agreement, a promise. Jehovah keeps His promises. We can trust Him to perform His Word when we believe His Word. This includes healing with no limitations.

Ropheka is a form of the Hebrew word rapha. Biblically, rapha refers to healing of all kinds. It can mean to heal (or be healed), be cured, to pacify, to mend, to repair, to make whole. God’s healing is broad enough to cover any physical, mental, or spiritual need for healing we may have at any time in our lives.

Let’s increase our understanding of Jehovah-ropheka by looking at uses of rapha in relation to Jehovah. We will see God’s great desire and ability to provide healing for His people with no limitations.

Psalm 103:2,3:
Bless the Lord
[Jehovah], O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:
Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth
[rapha] all thy diseases.

Our God loves us and is a marvelous Giver of all good things. Verse 2 tells us to not forget all His benefits, and verse 3 tells us one of the many benefits God has for us—He heals all our diseases. Healing for all is God’s will. When we believe on the positives of His Word, not the negatives of the world, we can claim and manifest the healing God makes available.

Psalm 107:19,20:
Then they cry unto the Lord
[Jehovah] in their trouble, and he saveth them out of their distresses.
He sent his word, and healed
[rapha] them, and delivered them from their destructions.

God’s Word is the answer. As we study and claim God’s Word in our lives, we can have the believing and trust in Jehovah-ropheka to be healed with no limitations and delivered from any pitfall, whether it is physical, mental, or spiritual. Our God is so good, and He is calling us to a life more than abundant.

II Corinthians 1:20:
For all the promises of God in him
are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.

We can trust God and believe His Word to receive His promises. God is willing and able to heal with no limitations. To heal is what He does—it is God’s loving nature in manifestation. How satisfying to know Him and to have our heart’s questions answered. Can and will God bring healing? Yes, He is the Lord Who heals us.
