Have you ever wondered if you are worthy or righteous enough to have a life of victory, free from defeat? If you are born again, a child of God filled with holy spirit, you are worthy! Getting born again simply requires confessing Jesus as lord and believing in your heart that God raised him from the dead (Romans 10:9,10). God then sees you as righteous in Christ, standing before Him without any sin, guilt, or shortcomings, and worthy of victories in life!
It is a joy to understand how God made us righteous in Christ. We cannot earn righteousness by our works. We can choose to believe and receive the true righteousness, established and freely given by God in the new birth, through the works of Jesus Christ.
Romans 3:22:
Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference.
Romans 5:17:
For if by one man’s offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.
Righteousness is a gift by God’s grace! We are righteous because Jesus Christ, who knew no sin, was made sin for us that we might be made the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus.
II Corinthians 5:21:
For he [God] hath made him [Jesus Christ] to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
Romans 5:8:
But God commendeth [favorably introduced] his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
Because Christ died for us, we are righteous now and we can be overcomers in this life. After the new birth, the thinking that we are still unworthy and defeated is to be left behind. Deliverance and righteousness by God’s grace are ours. But we must believe it! Then we can simply live with the confidence that we are worthy through Christ Jesus. This begins our journey of living free from the frustration of worry, guilt, and fear.
I Corinthians 1:30:
But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption.
God’s Word teaches us how to accept this gift of righteousness through believing. We can remove condemnation, and we can live victoriously in life’s situations by way of the renewed mind.
The first part of Romans 12:2 states, “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind….” In The Amplified Bible (1987) “the renewing of your mind” is stated as “the [entire] renewal of your mind.” When situations occur in life that are less than favorable and if we start to get discouraged, we can follow God’s instruction to renew our minds and overcome negative thoughts. We do this by aligning our thinking with God’s Word. When we believe we are righteous in Christ before God, we can absolutely manifest release from any bondage, having confidence toward God.
Romans 8:1:
There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus….
I John 3:20,21:
For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things.
Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence toward God.
Holding these scriptures in mind helps us live free from condemning or accusing thoughts. Believing these promises and having confidence in God will yield peace and assurance, and that will help us receive answers to prayer.
Confidence in God’s truth that we are righteous now helps us renew and maintain our resoluteness to think and live victoriously. We did not have to earn our righteousness—it was given to us freely because of the accomplished works of Jesus Christ. Because we are righteous, we stand before God without any sense of sin, guilt, or shortcomings. We are overcomers—worthy of victories in life!
