Manifest God’s Power: Holy Spirit and Believing

While in graduate school, I took our ministry’s Foundational Class and learned from God’s Word that when I got born again, I received God’s gift of holy spirit power, which I could manifest in my life. One way to manifest that power is by speaking in tongues. I started to speak in tongues in my private prayer life and began to see positive results. I would drive downtown, speaking in tongues for parking spaces near the places I visited. Every time, a parking spot was there. This encouraged me to consider how God cared about every aspect of my life. If He would provide a simple parking space to bless me, what else was available? Over the past almost five decades since my first class, speaking in tongues has been part of my daily habit pattern. I’ve seen innumerable signs, miracles, and wonders that God brought to pass to bless my family and others.

Would you like to manifest more of God’s power? The Word of God points the way, showing us how. Two keys to manifesting more of God’s power are (1) speaking in tongues much in our private prayer life and (2) believing His Word.

One basic key to manifesting God’s power in our lives is to operate the manifestation of speaking in tongues in our private prayer life. God, our heavenly Father, is a God of power. From Him, great power to live abundantly and serve effectively is available and ready for us to manifest by operating the gift of holy spirit. As born-again believers, we have wonderful abilities and opportunities to manifest God’s power. We see this truth in the instructions Jesus Christ gave to the apostles regarding the initial outpouring of holy spirit.

Acts 1:8:
But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost
[the gift of holy spirit] is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

The English word “receive” is translated from the Greek word lambanō, which specifically points to an objective reception into manifestation. In essence, Jesus Christ told them they would receive and manifest power. God gave the gift of holy spirit with the intention that this power would be manifested.

Acts 2:4:
And they
[the twelve apostles] were all filled with the Holy Ghost [the gift of holy spirit], and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit [God] gave them utterance.

The manifestation of speaking in tongues is readily available for a child of God to operate on a day-by-day, hour-by-hour, minute-by-minute basis. Once filled with holy spirit, we have the free will to decide to speak in tongues. God will give us the utterance as we decide to speak.

Spiritually, speaking in tongues is the foundation of all nine manifestations of the spirit available to each born-again believer (I Corinthians 12:7-11). Speaking in tongues is like cosmetic makeup foundation. This beauty product is designed to act as the groundwork for the entire makeup look and provides a smooth and even base to accent a person’s best features. Speaking in tongues is like that; it provides the base, the foundation, and the support for a spiritually powerful life. We lay a solid foundation by personally developing frequency, fluency, versatility, and boldness in speaking in tongues in our private prayer life to manifest more of God’s power.

Another way we can manifest more of God’s power is by believing His Word. Our believing can grow as far and as fast as we can build the Word into our lives. When we believe God’s Word, the exceeding greatness of His unlimited power is made available to us.

Ephesians 1:19:
And what
is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power.

In The Amplified Bible (1987), part of this verse reads, “…what is the immeasurable and unlimited and surpassing greatness of His power in and for us who believe….” The word “believe” in this verse is in the present tense. Right now, we can manifest God’s power.

Hebrews 11:1 is another verse about believing and can be translated: “Now believing is the title deed of things prayed for, the evidence they are yours before they are seen.” Our believing is like the title deed to our car. It is our proof of ownership. We will absolutely receive what we believe for according to God’s Word. By believing, we can manifest more of God’s power.

By speaking in tongues much in our private prayer life and believing God’s Word, we can manifest more of God’s power in our lives. When we believe God’s Word, its life and power become manifest in our lives. Let’s continue to speak in tongues much in our private prayer life and build our believing by putting on more of God’s Word in our lives. As we do, we will continue to see abundance and power in every category of our lives.
